2014 Winter Paraolympics at Sochi,Russia Opening Ceremony Friday March 07,2014

Russian President Vladimir Putin presided over the opening of the Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia on Friday March 07,2014

Ukraine defiantly sent just a single flag bearer to represent its team and the appearance of Ukrainian biathlete Mykhaylo Tkachenko drew a roar from the capacity crowd at the Fisht Olympic Stadium. Entering in a wheelchair with the Ukrainian flag, he wore a serious expression.



Russian President Vladimir Putin nevertheless appeared relaxed as he officially opened the Games, centre stage once again as he was watched by thousands in the arena and millions across the world on television.
