Delhi L-G calls for President's Rule, asks Assembly to be suspended Saturday Feb 15,2014

Union Cabinet ministers met on Saturday evening at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister of Delhi along with his Cabinet on Friday within 49 days of coming to power.

L-G Najeeb Jung, in his report, had rejected the recommendation of the outgoing AAP government that the Assembly be dissolved. The LG's move keeps the option open for any political party or a combination of parties to try and form a government in future

The Union Cabinet in a meeting to discuss the future course of action for Delhi Assembly has accepted Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung's report and recommended President's Rule inDelhi and has also recommended that the Assembly be placed under suspended animation.
The Cabinet's recommendation has been forwarded to President Pranab Mukherjee for approval.

A day after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has recommended President's Rule in Delhi and has also recommended that the Delhi Assembly be put under suspended animation.

L.G's recommendation comes after the BJP, the single largest party in the Assembly elections in Delhi, refused to stake a claim to form a government in Delhi

After the resignations of the Delhi Chief Minister and the Cabinet were accepted, the Aam Admi Party, on Saturday Feb 15,2014 announced its nationwide anti-corruption campaign called the 'Jhadhoo Yatra'. Their election campaign will formally begin on 23 February with AAP members spreading out to more than 300 constituencies
