The Delhi AAP Govt led by Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday Feb 06,2014gave the first case to its
anti-corruption unit. And the case is none other than the Commonwealth
Games street-lighting scam, in which a private company was allegedly
favoured by the Delhi government, leading to losses worth crores for the
Treasury.
Sweska Powertech Engineers Pvt Ltd, led by Director JP Singh and Managing Director TP Singh, won the contract for the streelighting. However, some changes were allegedly made in their tender bid to increase the amount the company quoted for the work.
According to the CBI chargesheet, the changes led to a wrongful loss of Rs 1,42,83,000 to the government and corresponding wrongful gain to the accused persons.
The Shunglu panel set up Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to probe the scam had squarely blamed the Sheila Dikshit government and four MCD officials, along with the Sweska managers
