M S Dhoni becomes first Indian Wicket-keeper to cross 300 dismissals Sunday Jan 19,2014



Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the first Indian wicketkeeper and the fourth overall to effect 300 dismissals in One Day Internationals when he caught a Ross Taylor nick in the First ODI against New Zealand in Napier on Sunday Jan 19,2014

With this, M S Dhoni joined -
  • Australia's Adam Gilchrist (472 dismissals in 287 matches)
  • Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara (424 dismissals in 362 matches) and 
  • South Africa's Mark Boucher (424 dismissals in 295 matches)

Prior to the series, Dhoni had 299 dismissals (220 caught and 79 stumpings).


Also M S Dhoni is the third wicketkeeper to accomplish the double of 5,000 runs and 300 dismissals, joining -
  • Adam Gilchrist (9410 runs, 472 dismissals in 282 ODIs) and 
  • Kumar Sangakkara (11223 runs, 424 dismissals in 318 ODIs).
