ICC Names Cheteshwar Pujara As The Emerging Cricketer Of The Year 2013

Cheteshwar Pujara won the ‘Emerging Cricketer of the Year’ trophy  in the ICC annual awards announced on Friday Dec 13,2013


Cheteshwar Arvind Pujara(DOB Jan 25,1988) made his
  • first-class debut for Saurashtra in December 2005 
  • Under-19 Test debut for India against England in 2005
  • Test debut against Australia at Bangalore in October 2010 and scored 4 & 72 
  • ODI debut against Zimbabwe  and scored 9 Runs

was the leading run-scorer of the 2006 Under-19 World Cup with 349 Runs from 6 innings, including three fifties and a century, at an average of 117


In 2013, at the age of only 25, Cheteshwar Pujara became only the 9th batsman to score three career first-class triple-centuries -
  • 302* for Saurashtra against Orissa in 2008/09
  •  352 for Saurashtra against Karnataka in 2012/13and
  •  306* for India A against West Indies A in 2013/14

became the 2nd fastest Indian to get to 1000 Test runs (first being Vinod Kambli)in 11 Test Matches consisting of 18 Innings


has scored 1310 Runs with 5 Tons in 15 Test Matches at an average of 65.50 with 206* being the topscore
