All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday Dec 19,2013 called upon her party members to strive hard to make the party victorious in all the 40 constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
J Jayalalithaa told members of the party general council that “people of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are there to wave the green flag. I would be the engine driver. You [workers] would ensure that the train and its passengers – candidates of the AIADMK – would reach Red Fort in Delhi safely and victoriously ''
Addressing her party general council in a marriage hall on the
outskirts, J Jayalalithaa referred to a resolution adopted earlier at
the council meeting, which authorised her to take all decisions
regarding the Lok Sabha elections, and assured her party colleagues that
she would take a call, keeping in mind the interests of the AIADMK.
The resolution, moved by Local Administration Minister and the party’s
Krishnagiri district secretary K.P. Munusamy, stated that even though it
was the aim of the party to go it alone in the Lok Sabha elections and
capture all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, J Jayalalithaa
had been authorised to take all decisions, including on forming a
coalition.
Peace, prosperity and progress: AIADMK slogan for 2014 LS polls
Note
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary
and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday Dec 31,2012 announced that her
party would go it alone in the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu and
Puducherry.
Her point was direct and simple: The AIADMK had to contest the elections
independently as the Congress and the BJP in Karnataka were united in
“not giving a drop of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.”
J Jayalalithaa said: “If we have to secure Tamil Nadu’s rights and ensure
that [Cauvery] delta districts in the State do not become a desert, we
should contest in 40 parliamentary constituencies of Tamil Nadu and
Puducherry independently in the coming Lok Sabha polls and emerge
victorious, thereby enabling us to acquire authority to take all
decisions.”
