Inaugurating the 1028 Sadhaya Vizha (Coronation
Day) of King Raja Raja Cholan, who built the Big Temple in Thanjavur, District Collector N Subbaiyan said kings of yesteryears had recorded their history in the
form of epigraphs and there was a need to document them now.
The
Big Temple spoke volumes about the architectural skill, spirituality,
and humanism of King Raja Raja Cholan. The temple remained the centre of
administration and evidences in the form of epigraphs are available on
the reforms initiated by the king in land administration and conduct of
elections.
