2013 Rajasthan Assembly Election Dec 01,2013

Election Commission of India(ECI) Notifies Election Dates for 5 States Friday Oct 5,2013
The Election Commission of India(ECI)announced on Friday Oct 5,2013 that the polls to the Assemblies in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the States of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Mizoram will be held between November 11 and December 4,2013 and Counting of votes will be taken up on December 8,2013


Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath told journalists here that as per the Supreme Court direction, a ‘None of the Above’ button (the option of rejecting all candidates) would be provided in electronic voting machines in the polls

In Rajasthan,chief minister, Ashok Gehlot(Congress)is challenged by BJP's Vasundhra Raje Scindia.BJP is counting on the anti-incumbency factor, the Congress seems confident that the UPA and the state government's welfare schemes will bring in votes.

The only non-Congress CM to rule Madhya Pradesh for five years in continuation, Shivraj Singh Chouhan is in the fray for a third term and will ask voters to bring the BJP and him back to power for an third consecutive term. Challenging him is the Congress led by Jyotiraditya Scindia.

In Chhattisgarh,Chief Minister Raman Singh(BJP)is holding the power since 2003.Raman Singh is in the fray for a third term, the major players in the Congress are MP from Korba Charan Das Mahant, Ajit Jogi and former MP CM Motilal Vora

As per the SC's Order  on Sep 27,2013, Election Commission has decided to include of 'None of the above' (NOTA) provision in the Assembly polls

 

 

Model Code of conduct for Polls Implemented

The political parties have been informed about the opening of bank account for their candidates at least a day before filing their nominations and the candidates will have to manage their poll expenses from the account

The limit of poll expenditure in one constituency has been fixed at Rs.

About 4,06,08,056 voters in the state, of which  are men and  women

A total of  polling stations are in the state

As per the directives of the Supreme Court, if the candidate misses out something while filling the nomination form then it will be the responsibility of the Returning Officer to inform the candidate about those missing entries

INC Candidates List Nov 03,2013
INC released the list in New Delhi late last night. Commonwealth Games gold medallist in discus throw Krishna Poonia, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his 18 ministerial colleagues and 29 sitting MLAs feature in the first list of 63 Congress candidates for the December 1 Assembly elections in Rajasthan.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will contest from Sardarpura (Jodhpur)

Ministers Shanti Dhariwal from Kota North, Rajendra Pareek from Sikar, Jitendra Singh from Khetri, B K Sharma from Hawamahal, A A Khan from Tijara, Ashok Bairwa from Khandar, Mahendrajeet Singh from Bagidora, Gurumeet Singh Kunnar from Karanpur, Vinod Kumar Leelawali from Hanumangarh, Brijendra Singh Ola from Jhunjhunu, Parsadi Lal Meena from Lalsot, Ashok Bairwa from Khandar, Manju Meghwal from Jayal, Ameen Khan from Shiv, Mangilal Garsia from Gogunda, Dayaram Parmar from Khairwara, and Bharat Singh from Sangode constituency.

Former MPs Vishwendra Singh and Coloneal Sonaram have been made the party candidates from Deeg-Kumher and Baytoo, respectively.

Congress' remaining list of 137 will be released by the party high command after Diwali, a party spokesman said today

Filing of Nominations Tuesday Nov 12,2013
The filing of nominations for the December 1 Assembly polls in Rajasthan ended today, with more than 2,847 candidates, including those of ruling Congress and opposition BJP, submitting their papers.

On the last day Tuesday Nov 12,2013, more than 1,585 candidates submitted their papers

BJP Release Rajasthan Election Manifesto Wed Nov 20,2013
In its 2013 Rajasthan Assembly election manifesto, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wed Nov 20,2013 promised five per cent reservation to Gujjars, and seven other tribes, as a special backward class after removing “all constitutional impediments,” and rehabilitation of Hindu refugees mainly from the Sindh province of Pakistan

Campaigning ends in Rajasthan Friday Nov 29,2013

Campaigning for the Assembly elections in Rajasthan came to a close on Friday Nov 29,2013 and with the election in Churu having been countermanded after the death of Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Jagdish Meghwal, polling will take place in 199 constituencies in the State on Sunday Dec 01,2013

Over 47,000 polling booths are being set up across the State — the largest in the country. Over 4.08 crore voters -- 2.15 crore males and 1.93 crore females -- would decide the fate of 2,087 candidates who are in the fray for the 199 of the 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan.The voting on Dec 1 will take place between 8 am and 5 pm. Sunday and the counting of votes will be held on Dec 8,2013

The Congress and BJP are contesting from all the seats, the National People’s Party, which has emerged as a strong alternative, has fielded its candidates from 150 Assembly segments and the BSP from over 100
