Tokyo wins 2020 Olympic Bid Saturday Sep 7,2013



Tokyo on Saturday Sep 7,2013 won the right to host the 2020 Olympic Games, beating Istanbul by 60-36 votes in the second round of voting in Buenos Aires.
Istanbul, which was bidding for the fifth time, beat Madrid in a head-to-head vote after the two cities were tied in the first round
Tokyo received the most number of votes in the first round to advance.
Tokyo,the Japanese capital will be the first Asian city to host the Olympics twice, having also hosted the 1964 Games.
Tokyo was making its second straight bid after losing the 2016 race to Rio de Janeiro







Istanbul, Tokyo and Madrid are the contenders  in a secret ballot that will be announced at 21:00 BST on Saturday Sep 7,2013  in Buenos Aires,Argentina

International Olympic Committee (IOC) members will also decide which one of squash, baseball/softball (joint bid) or wrestling will be added to the Olympic Games programme in 2020.

A new IOC president will also be chosen to replace the outgoing Jacques Rogge. IOC president Jacques Rogge will step down on Tuesday after 12 years at the helm and a secret ballot will take place on the same day to decide from six candidates to replace the 71-year-old Belgian
