Narendra Modi at Delhi Rally Sunday Sep 29,2013

Narendra Modi attacked the Congress over a range of issues at a rally in Delhi on Sunday Sep 29,2013 attended by over a lakh people. While he did not name Rahul Gandhi,Narendra Modi kept referring to the Congress vice president and said his remarks over ordinance on tainted politicians had diminished the office of the Prime Minister.

Narendra Modi launched a severe attack on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit

"If anybody is happy here in Delhi, it is the Chief Minister. She doesn't have any work except cutting ribbons."
Narendra Modi attacked corruption during the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which he said has destroyed India's credibility and robbed it of sportsman's spirit. "We have lost the opportunity to brand India. We have harmed our country for the next 20 years''

The BJP pulled out all stops to make the Narendra Modi show today a huge affair. On the massive stage, 80 feet by 40 feet, Narendra Modi in a white kurta pyjama, was flanked by leaders like Nitin Gadkari and Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel

Narendra Modi, who was recently declared as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, will be addressing the 'Vikas rally' (development rally) which BJP hopes will help swing its electoral fortunes in polls, due in November 2013

BJP says that it expects at least five lakh people to attend the event that is expected to begin at 10 am. The party says it has sent out invites to nearly 80 foreign missions with about 35 missions confirming their attendance in what is being viewed as an aggressive, parallel campaign for Modi-as-the-next-PM in front of an international audience.
Speaking to an estimated 1.5 lakh people who turned up to listen to him at his first rally in Delhi

Narendra Modi tore into the Congress leadership and the UPA government as he is wont to do, but his sharpest words were reserved for the Prime Minister

"I wonder if he will meet the Pakistan PM confidently today...I wonder if the PM will be able to ask him when Pakistan will stop aiding terrorism...I  wonder if the PM will be able to question Nawaz Sharif on the Indian soldiers who are brutally killed

Narendra Modi also made a scathing attack on Congress number 2 Rahul Gandhi, who he said had undermined the authority of the Prime Minister, referring to the latter's criticism of an ordinance to protect convicted lawmakers that the government has pushed.

"The pride of the Prime Minister has been brought down by his own party. The Congress' Vice President has committed the sin of disrespecting the Prime Minister

About 100 giant LED screens were installed all over Delhi to broadcast Narendra Modi's speech live

BJP had invited envoys of about 80 countries in an effort to project what the party says is the Gujarat Chief Minister's global appeal and acceptability, after years of being boycotted by many countries over the 2002 communal riots in his state. About 15 of them attended

Preparations at the venue

An 80x40 ft stage has been erected at the sprawling Japanese Park in Rohini in north-west Delhi where Mr Modi, expected to arrive in a chopper, will be delivering a 45-minute-long speech and will later unveil his 100-feet-long portrait.

A sophisticated sound system and giant LED screens at the venue have been installed at the ground. For maximum coverage of the event, screens have also been installed at several places in the city that will broadcast his speech live.

Security, too, is stringent as dozens of CCTV cameras and hundreds of private security guards will keep an eye on the massive crowds. Around 3,000 policemen and paramilitary personnel will also provide security in and around the venue.
