Yelena Isinbayeva(Russia) Wins Pole Vault Gold Medal at the 14th IAAF World Championships Moscow Tuesday Aug 13,2013


Russian Pole Vault Queen Yelena Isinbayeva sent a home crowd into raptures at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow,Russia on Tuesday Aug 13,2013 when she ended a 5-year title rot with a third World Championship gold.






They had come for her in large numbers and big voice. They were willing if she was. The crowd was there as much in hope that at 31 the two-time world champion and dual gold medalist could still do it. They came because it was at home and she was theirs, to see her off. They hoped for success but they did not expect it.


Yelena Isinbayeva -twice the Olympic Gold Medalist in 2004 and 2008 Beijing Olympics.
At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing,Yelena Isinbaeva took her second Olympic Gold Medal in Women's Pole Vault setting an Olympic record of  4.95 meters following a world record of 5.05 meters



Jennifer Stuczynski(USA)finished second with 4.80 Metres and Svetlana Feofanova(Russia)finished third with 4.75 Metres to secure the Silver and Bronze Medals respectively


Yelena Isinbayeva(31) lit up the Luzhniki stadium when she soared 4.89 metres on her first attempt


Jennifer Suhr(USA)the 2012 London Olympics Champion  finished second and secured the Silver Medal

Yarisley Silva (Cuba)finished third and secured the Bronze Medal


With gold assured, Isinbayeva ran to the crowd and embraced her coach and mentor Yefgeny Trofimov, who she split from in 2005 before teaming up with again in 2011



Then Yelena Isinbayeva asked for the bar to be raised to 5.07, one centimetre above the outdoor world record she set in 2009 and three unsuccessful attempts followed



Yelena Isinbayeva said after qualifying that she will not retire immediately but would like to have a family and a baby

Yelena Isinbayeva said she aims to return for the Beijing 2015 Worlds and Rio 2016 Worlds, but only if all goes well.
