TN CM J Jayalalitha Inaugurates National Law College-Srirangam Thursday Aug 22,2013

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Thursday Aug 22,2013 inaugurated the National Law College in her constituency Srirangam via video conference from the Chennai Secretariat in the presence of Hon’ble Justice Rajesh Kumar Agrawal(Acting Chief Justice,Madras High Court). She also gave the admission form to 7 Students.

Also present were Chennai High Court Justice M Jayachandran, Justice V Dhanapalan, K.P. Munusamy (Minister for Municipal Administration,Rural Development,Law,Courts and Prisons) ,T.P Poonachi (Minister for Khadi and Village Industries) , Chief Secretary, Government Lead Lawyer and  Legal Secretary

The College plans were drawn after a resolution was two years back on 7.7.2011 by Jayalalitha to build a modern law in her constituency.

Established on a 25-acre campus in Navalurkuttapattu on the Tiruchi-Dindigul National Highway at an investment of Rs.100 crore, the law school has been included in the University Grants Commission-approved list of universities

 Built on a 25 acre acre plot at an outlay of around Rs.100 crore in Srirangam in Tiruchirapalli District the National Law College-Srirangam will commence this year 100 students, including 10 non-resident Indian students

At present, the law school is offering a 5-year integrated B.A.,LL.B (Honours) degree from this academic year with an intake of 100 students, 45 each under the quotas of Tamil Nadu and all India and 10 under NRI quota.

The Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS) in Srirangam taluk is likely to offer more courses, including B.Com LLB (Honours) and LLM with different specialisations, from the next academic year
