India on Monday Aug 12,2013 successfully test-fired nuclear weapons capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile, Prithvi-II for its full range of 350 km from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, Odisha
The launch operations were monitored by missile scientists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).Prithvi's Programme Director, Adalat Ali and Project Director N.Siva Subramanyam oversaw the launch operations. G.Satheesh Reddy, Director, Research Centre Imarat, M.V.K.V.Prasad, Director, ITR and R.Appavuraj, Director, Proof and Experimental Establishment, DRDO were present.
According to DRDO, the missile was launched at 9.15 am and it zeroed in on the pre-designated target in the Bay of Bengal with all the systems working to perfection. "It was a text-book launch"
