Parliament’s Monsoon Session Extended to Sept 6,2013


To make up for time lost due to disruptions, government on Monday Aug 26,2013 decided to extend the monsoon session of Parliament till September 6,2013 and hopes to pass key Bills relating to food security, economic reforms and land acquisition.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs took the decision to extend the session till September 6 at a meeting held in Parliament House here on Monday Aug 26,2013

The monsoon session, which began on August, 5 was scheduled to end on August 31,2013

Note
The 15th Lok Sabha, elected in 2009, is on its way to becoming the least deliberative in history: it has passed the least number of bills

Excluding the Monsoon 2013 session (ongoing), it planned for 380 bills but passed only 149, a "pass" percentage of 39%.

The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill - First introduced in the RS in 2007; pending in LS
The Women’s Reservation Bill was first introduced in the RS in 2008; pending in LS
Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill, 2013
Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2013
Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) Bill, 2011
Land Acquisition Bill
