P V Sindhu -1st Indian Women's Player To Win World Badminton Championship Medal
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, or better known as
P.V. Sindhu(10th Seeded)created Indian badminton history on August 9, 2013 after a
21-18, 21-17 win over former world no.1 Shixian Wang of China in the
quarter-final world championships 2013 held in China
Thus P V Sindhu entered the SF's thereby ensuring a Medal.
However,in the SF P V Sindhu lost the game to Thai Ratchanok Intanon and settled for a bronze medal
P V Sindhu shared Bronze Medal alongwith Bae Yeon Ju
Silver medallist Li Xuerui, gold-winner Ratchanok Inthanon, bronze medallists PV Sindhu and Bae Yeon Ju with their medals

Prakash Padukone won a medal in the World
Championships way back in 1983 when he bagged a bronze in the men
singles event in Copenhagen
The women's doubles duo of Jwala Gutta and
Ashwini Ponnappa had claimed another bronze for India in the last
edition of the tournament at London in 2011
