2013 Men's Hockey Asia Cup August 24 to September 1, 2013


The 2013 Men's Hockey Asia Cup is the 9th tournament that is being played between August 24 to September 1, 2013 at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh,Perak,Malaysia
Teams

The Tournament is governed by the Asian Hockey Federation.The Winner of the tournament qualify for the world cup 2014
Belgium,Australia,New Zealand,Germany,Argentina,England,South Korea and the hosts Netherlands already qualify for the world cup 2014

 India on Sunday Aug 11,2013 named a young 18-member squad to be led by the inspirational Sardar Singh in the crucial Asia Cup hockey tournament scheduled from August 24 to September 1 in Ipoh, Malaysia.
Goalkeepers: P R Sreejesh (vice-captain), P T Rao

Defenders: V R Raghunath, Rupinder Pal Singh, Amit Rohidas, Kothajit Singh, Birendra Lakra, Gurmail Singh.

Midfielders: Sardar Singh (captain), Manpreet Singh, Chinglensana Singh, Dharamvir Singh, S K Uthappa.

Forwards: Ramandeep Singh, Nithin Thimmaiah, Mandeep Singh, Malak Singh, Nikin Thimmaiah.

SF 1 Friday Aug 30,2013 South Korea Vs Pakistan


South Korea took the lead through an immaculate penalty corner conversion by Jang Jong, and held on to it till half time 
South Korea struck again early on resumption off a penalty corner. A fierce shot by Jang Jong was saved by Salman Akbar, but Lee Nam Young pounced on the rebound to slot in the second goal
Pakistan scored from a penalty corner by skipper Imran Muhammad.

SF 2 Friday Aug 30,2013 India Vs Malaysia

India produced an inspiring performance beating hosts Malaysia 2-0 to enter the final of the 9th Asia Cup hockey tournament on Friday
Raghunath took his goal—tally to seven when the big—bodied dragflicker converted India’s first penalty corner in the eighth minute 
India went into the breather leading by a goal
India increased  the lead in the 60th minute through Mandeep Singh’s who scored his fifth of the tournament after a fine one—two with Ramandeep Singh.

India beat Malaysia 2-0 and enters the finals of the 9th Asia Cup hockey tournament in Ipoh, Malaysia


India will play South Korea in the finals on Sunday Sep 1,2013

Note
India had earlier defeated the Koreans 2—0 in the pool stages
