North Korea Military Parades Through Pyongyang July 27,2013


North Korea mounted its largest ever military parade today to mark the 60th anniversary of the armistice that ended fighting in the Korean War(July 27, 1953 -July 27,2013) displaying its long-range missiles at a ceremony presided over by leader Kim Jong-Un







July 27,2013 Saturday's parade was held to mark a holiday the North Koreans call "Victory Day in the Fatherland Liberation War''


The TV pictures showed Kim Jong-un walking up to the podium on a red carpet with a military band playing in the background. He oversaw the parade flanked by military and ruling party leaders.


State TV showed soldiers and military hardware parading through the capital Pyongyang in a carefully choreographed display

Troops and spectators shouted their allegiance to North Korea's young ruler, Kim Jong-un

Large banners hung from gas-filled balloons and the main square in Pyongyang was filled with North Korean flags

To commemorate the anniversary, North Korea over the past week has also staged huge mass rallies in its capital and put on elaborate fireworks shows.

 About the 1950-53 Korean War
The 1950-53 Korean War(June 25, 1950 – July 27, 1953) ended in a truce although the North and South remain technically at war.

The Korean War was a war between the Republic of Korea(South Korea)supported by the United Nations(UN)and Democratic People's Republic of Korea(North Korea)once supported by PRC and the Soviet union.
