Ashton Agar's(Australia)Record Breaking Debut in Test Match Vs England July 10,2013




At 19 years 269 days Ashton Agar is the 13th youngest player to play for Australia and the third teenager since Doug Walters in 1965. (Craig McDermott and Pat Cummins are the other two). He is the 17th player to bowl spin for Australia in the 68 Tests since Shane Warne retired

Ashton Agar(Australia)made his Test Debut against England at Nottingham on July 10,2013 and in the England 1st Innings as a Spin Bowler had figures of  7-0-24-0



In the Australia's 1st Innings as No 11 Batsman he scored 98 Runs(in 101 Balls with 4x12 and 6x2)


Ashton Agar was watched by proud parents John and Sonia, and younger brothers Wesley and William as he made history at Trent Bridge


  
 Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, paid tribute to the last-wicket pair. "What a stunning, gutsy, agonising 98 from Ashton Agar in the Ashes Test. Full marks to Hughes. Well done guys," Kevin Rudd wrote on Twitter

1)Phillip Hughes and Ashton Agar scored 163 Runs, the highest 10th-wicket partnership of all time in Tests
2)Ashton Agar might have missed a maiden hundred but for the man dubbed 'Ashton Who?' two world records in a day was enough as he walked off the ground with a smile and a shrug that won further admiration


  • now holds the highest score by a No. 11 of all time by scoring 98 Runs surpassing Tino Best(WI) 95 Runs against England at Edgbaston in 20129(previous-best for Australia was by Glenn McGrath who scored 61 against New Zealand at the Gabba in 2004)
  • dominated a transformational stand of 163 in 33 overs for the last wicket - another world record - with Phillip Hughes

3)Ashton Agar's 98 was also only the second half-century by a No.11 batsman in an Ashes Test - the previous one was by Frederick Spofforth at MCG in March 1885

4)Ashton Agar by scoring 98 runs on debut and batting as a No 11 Batsman broke the record for the highest score by a No. 11 batsman on debut held by Warwick Armstrong(Australia) who scored an unbeaten 45 against England in 1902

6)Ashton Agar becomes the 9th player in Test history to finish as the highest scorer in an innings when batting at number 11, and only the second to do so on his debut following Jayantha Amerasinghe's 34 not out from a Sri Lanka first-innings total of 215 against NZ in Kandy in 1984
