The outcome of the elections to six Rajya Sabha (RS) seats from Tamil Nadu was on expected lines.
T. Rathinavel, K.R. Arjunan, Dr. V. Maitreyan and Dr. R. Lakshmanan (all AIADMK), CPI candidate D. Raja and DMK candidate Kanimozhi won the Rajya Sabha polls
Three of the AIADMK candidates — K. R. Arjunan, V. Maitreyan and T. Rathinavel — polled 36 votes each and the other nominee, R. Lakshmanan, 35 votes
CPI's Raja got 34 votes and DMK's Kanimozhi got 31 votes. The loser, DMDK's Elangovan, got only 22 votes
