Haritha V Kumar(Kerala) Topper in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2012


Haritha V Kumar (Roll No. 075502) from Thiruvananthapuram took the top position. This is after a gap of 20 years that a Keralite has notched the top rank. This was the B.Tech graduate's fourth attempt.

Sriram V (Roll No 494891)from Ernakulam, who came in second, is a MBBS graduate from Kerala University. This was his second attempt, meanwhile

Stuti Charan, marketing and management student of IIPM, Delhi, came third

Alby John Varghese, of Moovattupuzha, came fourth. 


In its press release, the UPSC mentioned that the results showcased -

Amongst the top 25 candidates, there are candidates claiming domicile from as many as 12 States/UTs i.e. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh

Amongst top 25 candidates, six have made to the merit list in their first attempt; nine in second attempt; eight in third attempt; and 01 each in fourth and sixth attempts.

Of the top 25 candidates - 12 appeared from Delhi; 4 from Thiruvanathapuram, 2 each from Chennai & Hyderabad; and 1 each from Jammu, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Allahabad Centres
