Superman Turns 75 Years(1938-2013) -an American fictional character



Superman - an American fictional character, a comic book superhero who appears in comic books published by DC Comics.

DC Comics, Inc. (founded in 1934 as National Allied Publications) is one of the largest and most successful companies operating in the market for American Comic Books and related media

The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster in 1933 and sold to Detective Comics, Inc. (later DC Comics) in 1938


Superman first appeared in Action Comics# 1(June 1938) and subsequently appeared in various radio serials, television programs, films,newspaper strips and video games




Superman's appearance is distinctive and iconic. He usually wears a blue costume, complete with a red cape, with a stylized red-and-yellow ''S'' shield on his chest.

More Fun Comics, originally titled New Fun: The Big Comic Magazine a.k.a. New Fun Comics,was a 1935-1947 American Comic Book Anthology that introduced several major superherocharacters and was the first American comic-book series to feature solely original material rather than reprints of newspaper comic strips. It was also the first publication of the company that would become DC Comics
Adventure Comics was an American comic book  series published by DC Comics from 1938 to 1983 and revived from 2009 to 2011

 The name of Superman as a boy, Superboy has adventures that occur in the relative past to those of Superman and take place predominantly in his hometown of Smallville. Superboy is from the destroyed planet Krypton, where he was born under the name Kal-El, and lives on Earth under the secret identity  of mild-mannered student Clark Kent . Debuting in 1944, the character was in continuous publication for 40 years, developing a supporting cast and mythos of his own, before DC Comics removed him from Superman's fictional history. In 2009, however, DC Comics partially restored Clark's teenage career as Superboy.

Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane was a comic book series published monthly by DC Comics focusing on the adventures of supporting character Lois Lane . The series began publication with a March/April 1958  cover date and ended its run in September/October 1974 with 137 regular issues and two 80-page Annuals

 "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" is a 1986 comic book story featuring the DC Comics character of superman. Written by Alan Moore with help from long-time, and soon to be retiring, Superman editor,Julius Schwartz , the story was published in two parts, beginning in Superman # 423 and ending in Action Comics #583, both published in September 1986


The Man of Steel is a 1986 comic book limited series featuring the DC Comicscharacter Superman.Written and drawn by John Byrne, the series was presented in six issues which wereinked by dick Giordano. The series told the story of Superman's Modern Origin, which had been rebooted  with the 1986 series Crisis on Infinite Earths

 Legion of Super Heroes is an American Animated TV Series produced by Warner Bros Animation  that debuted on September 23, 2006, and is based on characters owned by DC Comics. The series centers on a Young Superman's adventures in the 31st century, fighting alongside a group of futuristic superheroes known as the Legion of Super Heroes.The series was cancelled after its second season(Original run September 23, 2006 – April 5, 2008)
In 2011, DC Comics relaunched the Superman comics,Superman's costume was redesigned to look more like armor and the red shorts over his tights were removed
