The Best Batting Debuts in Test Match

1)Jacques Rudolph(South Africa)against Bangladesh in Chittagong in 2003
Debuting at No3, Rudolph scored 222 Runs(in 383 Balls with 4x29 and 6x2) putting on a then record third wicket stand of 429 with Boeta Dippenaar as his side declared on 470 for three.

2)Larence Rowe(West Indies)against New Zealand in Kingston in 1972
Playing on his home ground Lawrence Rowe scored 214 Runs(4x19 and 6x1)in the first innings and went on to score 100 in the second innings, becoming the first man to score a double hundred and a century on Test debut.

3)Mathew Sinclair(New Zealand)against West Indies in Wellington in 1999
Mathew Sinclair  scored 214 Runs (with 4x7)

4)Brendon Kuruppu(Sri lanka)against New Zealand in Colombo in 1987
Brendon Kuruppu scored 201 not out in 777 minutes and it was the slowest double century in first class-history.
This score made Kuruppu only the third man to score a double century on debut and was at the time the highest individual score posted by a Sri Lankan batsman.

5)George Headley(West Indies) against England in Bridgewtown in 1930
Dubbed "the Black Bradman", George Headley was one of the finest batsmen in history.Headley was subjected to jeers from the crowd throughout his side's first innings in which he scored only 21 Runs but in the second innings he proved his class and resilience and scored 176 Runs

5)Hamish Rutherford(New Zealand)against England in Dunedin in 2013
Opening on debut, Rutherford looked composed and scored 171 Runs,the second highest by an opener with 4x22 and 6x3

6)Yasir Hameed(Pakistan)against Bangladesh in Karachi in 2003
Yasir Hameed became only the second man in history to hit a century in both innings of his first Test, as his 170(in 253 Balls with 4x25) and 108 guided Pakistan to a seven-wicket victory

7)Fawad Alam(Pakistan) against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2009
Fawad Alam's 168 Runs(in 259 Balls with 4x15 and 6x1)in the second innings made him the first Pakistan player to score a debut Test century away from home

8)Khalid Ibadulla(Pakistan)against Australia in Karachi in 1964
Putting on a first wicket stand of 249 with Abdul Kabir, Khalid Ibadulla became the first Pakistan batsman to score a Test debut hundred with his 166
