The 115 Men Who Will Choose the Next Pope


 Pope Benedict XVI appointed 67 of the cardinal electors; John Paul II appointed 48.

Cardinal electors from every region of the world will gather to choose the man to succeed Pope Benedict XVI


Europe is the most-represented continent with 60 cardinals
Africa with 11 cardinals
Asia with 10 cardinals
Latin America with 19 cardinals
North America with 14 cardinals and 
Oceania with 1 cardinal

Italy, the administrative center of the church, has the largest number of cardinals -17 cardinals

Cardinal electors must be younger than 80 to participate in the conclave. The average age is 72.
