New Zealand to introduce plain cigarette packaging -Tuesday Feb 19,2013

New Zealand will become the second country after Australia to introduce compulsory plain packaging on cigarettes, the NZ Govt has announced

Under the changes, all colourful branding will be removed from cigarette packaging, to be replaced by graphic health warnings

The international tobacco industry has warned that it will hit back as it has in Australia, with legal challenges likely to be filed on the day after new regulations are introduced to parliament.
Tariana Turia, the Associate Health Minister, said the law change will be tabled later this year and that the government is prepared for a legal fight.
