Fans came out smiling after watching the first show of 'Vishwaroop', each one insisting that there was nothing controversial in the film. "Not anti-Muslim or anti-India in any manner, the movie is so good and so super," said a young movie-goer
Another said, "Kamal Haasan's performance is superb, fantastic and natural. The movie is going to win national awards. It is going to rock the Indian cinema."
In Uttar Pradesh,, film theatres screened the movie despite warning from the Samajwadi Party.

'Vishwaroopam' remains banned in Tamil Nadu after opposition from Muslim outfits, even though the actor has agreed to certain cuts after talking to those groups. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has said the screenings could go ahead if they reach an amicable agreement
