CBI arrests Jagan Mohan Reddy after 3 days of questioning
YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested on May 27,2012 Sunday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after three days of questioning in the disproportionate assets case
The YSR Congress chief was taken into custody at 7.15 pm. Sources said that the CBI was not convinced with Jagan's replies and needed further clarifications in custody. He will now be produced before a CBI court, where the investigative body will seek police custody for the leader for further interrogations.
Jagan Mohan Reddy's arrest assumes significance as by-polls are scheduled to be held in the AP on June 12 for one Lok Sabha and 18 assembly seats.
The disproportionate assets case
Jagan is accused of conspiring with his father to dole out favours to companies which invested in his businesses in a quid pro quo arrangement. He was questioned by CBI investigators for over seven hours on Friday and over eight hours on Saturday. After the questioning amidst high security, Jagan remained unperturbed and said the questioning was cool and peaceful.
The disproportionate assets case pertains to the Vadarevu and Nizampatnam Ports and Industrial Corridor (VANPIC) deal. The CBI questioned Jagan in the presence of industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and senior bureaucrat KV Brahamandna Reddy who are already under arrest.
Prasad was the promoter in the VANPIC deal and allegedly invested Rs 850 crore in the business of Jagan for land allotment made to the VANPIC project by the then YSR regime on quid-pro-quo basis. The CBI had on Thursday arrested Andhra Pradesh Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana in connection with the VANPIC project.
Jagan's anticipatory bail petition was rejected on Thursday by the Andhra Pradesh High Court, hours after the CBI arrested Venkataramana.
The High Court as well as the CBI had turned down his pleas seeking exemption from appearing before the agency till June 15 due to his engagement with the by-polls campaign.

Section 120b - Criminal conspiracy.
Section 420 - Cheating.
Section 477a - Forgery of documents.
Section 409 - Criminal breach of trust.
Section 13(1)d, 13(2) r/w 477 - Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sought YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's custody for 14 days on Monday, saying the Kadapa MP's explanations during three days of questioning were not satisfactory.

While sending Jagan to jail, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Hyderabad refused to grant the investigating agency his custody for interrogation. Jagan has been lodged in Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad after Principal Judge A Pullaiah allowed his petition of seeking special prisoner status under Andhra Pradesh prison rules.

The CBI has issued summons to Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah in connection with the Jagan Mohan Reddy DA Case.
He was the irrigation minister in late YSR Reddy's regime and is one of the six ministers who was issued notices by the Supreme Court earlier this year.He has been asked to appear before the CBI on June 7,2012. This comes 10 days after the arrest of cabinet minister M Venkataramana, who was the excise minister in the YSR government.

A special CBI court on Thursday granted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) access to certified copies of second and third charge sheets filed by the central agency in connection with the disproportionate assets case involving YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The ED, which has registered separate cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) against the Kadapa MP, is also probing alleged contravention of foreign exchange rules in his financial transactions and investments.

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) trial court in Hyderabad has extended the judicial custody of YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy till June 25,2012 in the alleged disproportionate assets case. The CBI has also filed a petition for a narco analysis test on Jagan.
This comes as a big setback for Jagan as he will remain in jail during Tuesday's crucial by-elections in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan was present in the court when the court extended his custody. His mother Vijayamma, who has campaigned on his behalf, was also present.

YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking bail. The court is likely to hear the application on Friday.
The Kadapa MP says in the bail plea that he has never interfered with CBI's investigation or influenced any witnesses since the FIR was registered against him last August.The special CBI court had dismissed the bail plea on June 1, on the ground that he (being an MP and president of a political party) was in the position to tamper with evidence and influence the witnesses.

The AP HC on Wednesday dismissed YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy's bail plea in connection with the disproportionate assets case.
Jagan, who was named as the key accused in the case, was arrested on May 27 and is under judicial remand at Chanchalguda jail.Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu had completed hearings on the petition on June 27 and had reserved the orders for Wednesday.
Ram Jethmalani had argued for Jagan, senior counsel Ashok Bhan had represented CBI.
The CBI counsel had argued that the case involved financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 43,000 crore and the agency is investigating the fund flow into Jagan's companies.
CBI, in its three charge sheets filed against him and others, has alleged that Jagan and his father, late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Rajasekhara Reddy had hatched a conspiracy to defraud the government with the son influencing the father in doling out certain favours to various industries, which made investments of crores of rupees into Jagan's business as a quid-pro-quo arrangement.

The court extended the remand of Jagan and others, including former Andhra Pradesh excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, VANPIC project developer Nimmagadda Prasad, after they were produced through video-conference from Chanchalguda jail.

A CBI court on Nov 28,2012 Wednesday dismissed the bail plea of YSR Congress leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the alleged disproportionate assets case. The special CBI judge here dismissed one of his bail petition while adjourned hearing on another bail petition to November 30,2012.
Opposing the fresh bail pleas of Jagan, CBI deputy legal advisor Balla Ravindranath had last week argued that the petitioner was not entitled to get any relief at this stage in view of the Supreme Court order, which upheld the submissions of the central agency that the investigations were still on in connection with seven more cases.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Dec 26,2012 Wednesday adjourned till January 4 the hearing on a regular bail plea of jailed YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the alleged disproportionate assets case. Justice B Seshasayana Reddy adjourned the hearing on the bail plea moved by the Kadapa MP to January 4 to enable the CBI to file a status report on the progress of investigation into the case. While posting the matter to January 4, the judge remarked that "CBI cannot hope to keep Jagan in jail endlessly". Reddy asked the central agency about the details of the progress in the investigation as CBI had filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court claiming that a comprehensive charge sheet would be filed
The high court had on December 24 rejected the statutory bail plea of Jagan who has been in jail since May 27 after being arrested by CBI on corruption charges
ED attaches properties worth Rs 143 crore - Jan 07,2013
The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth Rs 143.74 crore in connection with its probe in the money laundering case against YSR Congress party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy.
"Immovable properties and movable assets worth Rs 143.74 crore under
section 5(1) of PMLA are being attached. The properties attached are
from Ms Ramky Pharma City (India) Limited are approximately 135.46 acres
of land and deposit of Rs 3.20 crore in mutual funds and fixed deposits
for Rs 10 Crore from Jagati Publications Private Limited (held by Jagan
Reddy)," the attachment order said.
The attachment order,
under criminal provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act
(PMLA), is the third by the agency after it issued two separate
attachment orders of Rs 51 crore and Rs 71 crore earlier

formalities and a personal bond of Rs. 2 lakh was executed on his behalf

The Chanchalguda prison and its surroundings were teeming with hundreds
of YSR Congress activists and people from across the State, who had
gathered since morning to catch a glimpse of their leader
He released about half a dozen pigeons before getting into a waiting
bullet-proof vehicle, part of a large convoy that proceeded from the
Chanchalguda to his Lotus Pond residence in the posh Jubilee Hills area.
As the convoy made its way, the crowd continued to follow him on two-wheelers and a large number of four-wheelers
It took almost five-and-half hours for the convoy to reach the residence
where he was given a traditional welcome by the family members
