Michael Hussey Announce Retirement From International Cricket - Dec 29,2012


Michael Edward Killeen Hussey (DOB May 27,1975)also known as Mike Hussey is an Australian cricketer, a left-handed specialist batsman, widely known by his nickname Mr Cricket.

Michael Hussey was a relative latecomer to both the ODI and Test Australian Teams, debuting at 28 and 30 years of age in the respective formats, with 15,313 first-class runs before making his Test debut.

Michael Hussey's last international cricket appearances -

  • Test Match -3rd Test at Sydney against Sri Lanka Jan 2-6,2013
  • ODI - ODI series against Sri Lanka and the West Indies

Michael Hussey explained that his motivation for his retirement was to spend more time with his family
 



Michael Hussey will play his last and 79th Test Match for Australia in Sydney in the 3rd Test Match against Sri Lanka.

  • debuted against West Indies at the Gabba in Brisbane in Nov 03, 2005

  • On 18 April 2006 Michael Hussey set a record as the fastest player in terms of time(just 166 days)to reach 1,000 Test Runs

  • has scored 6183 runs at 51.52 from 78 Tests with 19 Tons and 29 Fifties(195 being the highest score)


  • has scored 5442 Runs in 185 ODI's with 3 Tons and  39 Fifties(109* being the highest score)


  • plays for Chennai Super Kings(CSK) in the Indian Premier League(IPL)from 2008,the first edition itself(unable to play the second edition of the IPL in 2009).Michael Hussey became only the second batsman to score a century in the IPL when he scored 116 not out against the team Kings XI Punjab in 2008(Brendon McCullum was the first player toscore a ton in IPL)
