Petrol price was on Friday Feb 15,2013 hiked by Rs 1.50 per litre and diesel by 45 paise a litre with effect from midnight tonight.
The petrol rates have been revised in step with the steep rise in international rates, oil firms used the newly accorded freedom to increase diesel price in small dozes to effect the second price adjustment in one month

Petrol Price Reduced - Friday March 15,2013
Petrol price was on Friday cut by Rs. 2 per litre with
effect from midnight on Friday night, the steepest reduction in rates in
nine months.However,there will be no change in diesel rates.
The cut in petrol price follows two rounds of hike in rates since
February. Petrol price was hiked by Rs. 1.50 a litre on February 16 and
then by Rs. 1.40 per litre from March 2. Both the increases were
excluding local VAT
The reduction in rates was possible as international oil prices have
eased. While the slide in international prices of crude oil from $112.73
per barrel to $107.41 enabled reduction in petrol prices, it also
helped lower losses on diesel sales
.

midnight on Monday, the second reduction in rates in two weeks.
The price cut, which was made possible because of fall in international oil prices, is excluding local sales tax or VAT.

Reasons for the reduction -
Indian Oil Corp(IOC)said since the last price change, international prices have declined from $116.61 per barrel to $107 a barrel.
Rupee-US dollar exchange rate too improved from Rs.54.51 to a US dollar to Rs.54.26.

Oil marketing companies have decided to increase petrol prices by up to Rs 2 per litre, excluding VAT, on Saturday as the weakening rupee is making oil imports costlier.
Petrol price revision will be effective from midnight of June 15,2013 and the increased prices will come into effect from June 16,2013

Oil companies today hiked the price of petrol by a steep Rs.1.55 a litre, without taxes, as the falling rupee made imports costlier.The new price will take effect from Sunday midnight.
The revision in prices, as per the practice of changing rates in line with cost every fortnight, was due on Tuesday, July 16, but has occurred a day earlier.
This is the 4th increase in rates in since June 2013 thanks to depreciation of the rupee against dollar.
Oil
firms had on June 1 raised the price of the fuel by 75 paise, excluding
VAT, and followed it with a Rs.2 per litre increase on June 16 and a
Rs.1.82 on June 29,2013
Note
With the latest increase, all of the gains made from four reductions in prices earlier this year had been neutralised.
The rates cuts had brought down the price to Rs.63.01 at the beginning of May 2013
