Social Security Pension through banks in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Govt’s initiative of getting social security pension disbursed through banks has gone down well with beneficiaries.

“Now I get full pension without deduction. Earlier, I had to wait either in the corridors of post office or be at the mercy of the postman who deducted at least Rs.50 from my pension,” said A. Pandiammal of Kadhiranampatti in Mullipadi panchayat in Dindigul disitrict.

About Social Security Pension Schemes

1. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme

Persons Covered
Old aged persons who are 65 years and above, belonging to households below the poverty line and 60
years and above for persons affected by leprosy, blindness, insanity, paralysis and loss of limb
Assistance Provided
Rs.400/-Per month
Procedure to apply 
Prescribed form to be obtained from the Taluk Office or in plain paper duly filled up and sent to the Tahsildar/ Special Tahsildar (Social Security Scheme)

2. Destitute physically handicapped pension scheme 

Persons Covered  
Destitute Physically Handicapped persons aged above 45 years having no source of income whose disability is more than 50 per cent and blind persons
Assistance Provided
Rs.400/-Per month
Procedure to apply 
Prescribed form to be obtained from the Taluk Office or in plain paper duly filled up and sent to the Tahsildar/ Special Tahsildar (Social Security Scheme)


3. Destitute Widow Pension Scheme
Persons Covered 
Pension will be given to all the widows having no source of income applying for without
age limit subject to eligibility
Assistance Provided
Rs.400/-Per month

4. Destitute Agricultural Labourer Pension Scheme 
Persons Covered   
Destitute Agricultural labourers above 60 years of age having no source of Income
Assistance Provided
Rs.400/-Per month

5. Destitute Deserted Wives Pension Scheme

Persons Covered   
Destitute Deserted Wives above 30 years being a permanent resident of Tamil Nadu who is legally divorced or separated from husband for more than 5 years 
Assistance Provided
Rs.400/-Per month
Procedure to apply

6. Distress Relief Scheme

Persons Covered
financial assistance to bereaved families who have lost their breadwinners
Assistance Provided
Rs.10,000/-  (Central Government Assistance)

7. Accident Relief Scheme

financial assistance to bereaved families who have lost their breadwinners
