Hurricane Sandy Aftermath - New York to begin gas rationing

In an effort to ease frustrations over long lines at gas stations, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced on Thursday plans to begin rationing fuel in the city as it continues to recover from the damage left behind by Hurricane Sandy.

Beginning on Nov 9,2012 Friday morning, drivers with license plates ending in an even number can buy gas only on even-numbered days. Drivers with license plates ending in an odd number can only buy fuel on odd-numbered days. 


11 days without power after Hurricane Sandy

 

Eleven days after Hurricane Sandy made landfall, hundreds of thousands of utility customers in New York and New Jersey are still without power.




 

On Nov 9,2012 Friday, 163,029 customers in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and the Rockaway Peninsula were still without power
