Acer launches C7 Chromebook for $199


Acer’s Chromebook that runs Google Chrome operating system is based on Intel Corp.’s Celeron chip featuring Sandy Bridge micro-architecture. The product is designed as additional notebook for fast, easy and secure way to get online to do computing in the cloud, such as using Gmail, social networks, shopping, and paying bills.

Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2847) is powered by Intel Celeron 847 processor (1.10GHz, 2MB L3 cache), 2GB of DDR3 memory and 320GB hard disk drive (+100GB cloud storage). The laptop features 11.6” LED-backlit LCD, 1.3MP webcam with LED indicator and microphone, three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, SD/MMC card reader, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi controller and so on. Even though the Acer C7 Chromebook is supposed to be ultra-thin and light, it weighs 3.05 pounds (1.38 kg) and is about one inch thick (~2.5cm).

Acer C7 is cheaper than the new Samsung Chromebook which starts at USD 249


Acer C7 Chromebook has not been released in India but will be soon available in India with an affordable price of around Rs. 18,000
