26/11 Convict Ajmal Kasab Hanged


26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks Convict Ajmal Kasab was on Wednesday Nov 21,2012  at 7.30 a.m hanged at Pune's Yerwada jail(Major areas of attack included Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, the Oberoi Trident,the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Leopold Cafe, Cama Hospital and the Nariman House Jewish community centre)

 The information was confirmed by the Maharashtra Home Ministry, which said President Pranab Mukherjee had rejected the mercy plea of the LeT terrorist on Nov 8,2012.

Oct10,2011: Kasab tells SC that he was brainwashed like a "robot" into committing the heinous crime in the name of "God" and that he does not deserve capital punishment owing to his young age.

Jan31,2012: Kasab tells SC that he was not given a free and fair trial in the case.
Feb23,2012: SC hears intercepted conversations between the perpetrators of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and their Pakistani handlers and watched the CCTV footage of the carnage.
April 25,2012: SC reserves its verdict after a marathon hearing, spanning over two and a half month.
Aug 29,2012: The Supreme Court upheld Ajmal Kasab's death penalty.
Sep 12,2012: Kasab gets copy of the Supreme Court's verdict confirming death sentence on him.
Sep 18,2012: Kasab sent his mercy petition to President Pranab Mukherjee's office.
Sep 24,2012: Maharashtra Home Ministry rejects Kasab's mercy petition and forwards it to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan's office, which further sends it to the Union Home Ministry.
Oct 24,2012: Union Home Ministry recommends rejection of Kasab's mercy plea.
Nov 5,2012: President Pranab Mukherjee rejects Kasab's plea and forwards file to Union Home Minister.
Nov 7,2012: File shown to Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde upon his return from Interpol Conference in Rome. The Home Ministry decides to hang Kasab on November 21 at 7.30 am.
Nov 8,2012: The decision is communicated to the Maharashtra government.
Nov 19,2012: Kasab moved from Mumbai's Arthur Jail to Pune's Yerwarda Jail.
Nov 21,2012: Kasab hanged at Yerwarda Jail at 7.30 am.


Kasab's end came just 5 days before the 4th anniversary of the brutal terror attacks that killed 166 lives and injured 300


 Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday Nov 21,2012 said that the Indian government tried to reach to the family members of Mumbai terror attack accused Ajmal Kasab, who was hanged this morning in Pune's Yerwada jail. He also said that Kasab has been buried in the Yerwada jail premises itself.
"Kasab has been hanged to death today morning at Pune's jail. He was taken to Pune from Mumbai two days back. Kasab has been burried in Yerwada jail premises itself," he said.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday Nov 21,2012 confirmed that Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone surviving Pakistani terrorist of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was hanged at Pune's Yerwada Jail on Wednesday morning. He also said that India has not yet received any request from Pakistan to claim the Kasab's body. "Indian mission in Islamabad informed Pakistan government about Kasab's hanging through letter. Pakistan refuses to take the letter, which was then sent through fax," he said.
