The World Billiards Championship has been played annually since 1980, is one of the oldest sporting World
Championships in the world, dating in earnest to the mid-19th century.
Mike Russel(GBR) has been the most successful player who has won the title 11times
(1989,1991,1996,1999,2002,2003,2004,2007,2008,2010 and 2011)
followed by Geet Sethi(India)who has won the title 5 times(1991,1993,1995,1998 and 2006)
The event was known as the World Professional Billiards Championship until 2010.
2012 World Billiards Championship Title
Pankaj Advani wins the title defeating the defending champion Mike Russell(GBR) in the final.It is to be noted that the title was won by Pankaj Advani earlier in 2009
