El Clasico("The Classic")s the name given in Football to any match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.It is contested twice a year in the Spanish La Liga Competition, and more often if the clubs meet in other competitions.

The rivalry comes about as Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest Cities in Spain, and the two clubs are two of the richest, most successful and influential football clubs in the world.

FC Barcelona were held 2-2 by Real Madrid on Sunday Oct 7,2012, in an action-packed, high-quality Clasico, in which Lionel Messi scored twice for Barca and Cristiano Ronaldo scored for the Real Madrid

The draw left Barca well atop the table, eight points ahead of fifth-place Real.The draw means Barcelona preserve their eight-point lead over their arch-rivals after seven games of the Liga season.
Ronaldo gave Real an early lead only for Messi to quickly level for Barca. The Argentine then made it 2-1 for Barca, but Ronaldo straight away levelled for the Real Madrid.
