The visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has evoked the most vociferous opposition in TN.

 DMK Protest

DMK President M. Karunanidhi, a partner in the Congress-led UPA alliance urged the Centre to stop his visit to the country later this week to participate in the celebration in Sanchi to mark the 2,600th year of Buddha’s Enlightenment.

 MDMK Protest
Over 1,000 MDMK workers led by the party’s general secretary Vaiko, who were stopped early on Wednesday Sep 19,2012 on their way to Sanchi to protest against the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, continued with their dharna on Wednesday night  near Pandhurna on the Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra border.

 

 




 VCK Protest

Thirumavalavan sat on the road with his supporters, blaming the Congress and BJP for inviting Mahinda Rajapaksa to India and demanding he be sent back immediately. 

A 20-minute protest by the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) in Chennai against the visit of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to India caused a traffic logjam for over two hours in a five-km radius around Loyola College on Friday morning Sep 21,2012.The VCK cadres were restricted to a corner of the road near Loyola College, some 300 metres away from the deputy high commissioner’s office. Traffic was diverted and vehicles were not allowed on the stretch of the road where the office is located.
