The iPhone  is a line of Internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones marketed by APPLE. The 1st iPhone was unveiled by Apple CEO Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007, and released on June 29, 2007.

 An iPhone can function as a Video Camera,a Camera Phone,a Portable Media Player and an Internet client with email and Web browsing facilities can send texts and receive visual voicemail and has both Wi-fi and 3G connectivity.

 

Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone to the public on January 9, 2007, at the Macworld 2007 convention at the Moscone Centre  in San Francisco,USA. The two initial models, a 4 GB model priced at US$ 499 and a 8 GB model at US$ 599, went on sale in the United States on June 29, 2007.
There are 5 generations of iPhone Models -

iPhone 3G

is the 2nd generation of iPhone introduced on June 9,2008  which featured several improvements over the original iPhone.

iPhone 3GS

is the 3rd generation of iPhone introduced on June 8,2009 with features of -faster performance,a camera with higher resolution and video capability

iPhone 4

is a touchscreen smart phone and is the 4th generation of iPhone released on June 24, 2010, in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan. It is particularly marketed for video calling, consumption of media such as books and periodicals, movies, music, and games, and for general web and e-mail access.

 iPhone 4S

Apple announced the iPhone 4S on Oct 4, 2011, in Cupertino,California,USA. 

 

iPhone 5

Phil Schiller, Apple's Marketing chief, introduced the iPhone 5 in San Francisco,USA on Wednesday Sep 12,2012."We've updated every aspect of iPhone 5."Phil Schiller said.

The iPhone5 is Apple’s most dramatic redesign of its iconic smartphone since its introduction in 2007.Moving away from the fragile glass casing of the iPhone 4 and 4S, the phone now has a metal backplate flanked by glass panels that house a smaller — but better — camera sensor.

In short, Apple’s new iPhone is its thinnest, lightest, speediest and most beautiful ever released.

iPhone 5 is 18 %  thinner and 20 % lighter than the iPhone 4S but runs twice as fast as it feature an A6 chip, with graphics that are twice as fast, thanks to a new processor.The iPhone 5’s camera will be 8megapixels.
The iPhone 5 is Apple's first smartphone capable of 4G, the super-fast mobile broadband technology that is due to begin in Britain within weeks.

iPhone 5 Features

The new phone will cost the same as the iPhone 4S: $199 for the 16 GB version, $299 for the 32 GB version and $399 for the 64GB version.

The first customers to purchase their new iPhone 5 phone's exit the Apple flagship store on George street on September 21, 2012 in Sydney, Australia. Australian Apple stores are the first in the world to receive and sell the new iPhone 5 handsets.
