The Planning Commission approved (on Monday June 04,2012 )the annual Plan outlay of Rs 28,000 crore for Tamil Nadu for 2012-13, which is about 19 % higher than that of the previous fiscal 2011-12(2011-12 Rs 23,535 crore).
Jayalalithaa, who was in Delhi for finalising the plan outlay for the state for 2012-13, asked the Planning Commission to increase funds through the normal central assistance route (NCA)
NCA is part of the Planning Commission devolution to the State's annual plan and is sanctioned by the finance ministry in the form of 30 per cent grant and 70 per cent loan.
Jayalalithaa after meeting Montek Singh Ahluwalia, deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, she said: "We have asked for special assistance, additional assistance under various heads but that was not forthcoming.
According to her, of the Rs.28,000 crore only Rs.3,000 crore was from the central government and the balance was Tamil Nadu's own money.
