Manchester United FC


Manchester United Football Club is an English Professional Footbal  Club, based in Old Trafford ,Greater Manchester, that plays in the Premier League

Founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford  in 1910.

The 1958 Munich Air Disaster claimed the lives of 8 players

In 1968, under the management of Matt Busby, Manchester United was the first English football club to win the European Cup 

As of July 2011, the club is number one in Forbes magazine's annual ranking of the world's 50 most valuable sports teams, valued at $1.86 billion.

Manchester United Named as World's Richest Club

Manchester United have retained their status as the world's richest club, with their value having soared by an estimated 20 per cent according to business publication Forbes. United are now reportedly worth $2.24 billion (€1.7bn)

Real Madrid are second with a value of $1.88bn (€1.43bn), a 29 per cent rise, while reigning European and Spanish champions Barcelona are third on $1.31bn (€998 million), an increase of 34 per cent.

Manchester United's global fan base of some 330m also helps makes it the most valuable team in any sport, worth $385m (€293m) more than both Major League Baseball's New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League.

English soccer club Manchester United retained their title as the world's most valuable sports team, according to an annual top 50 list released by Forbes on Monday July 16,2012

The 19-times English champions, who are preparing for a listing on the New York Stock Exchange, were valued at $2.23 billion, up from $1.86 billion last year and 19 percent above No. 2 Real Madrid.

Barcelona FC is placed 8th and valued at $1.31 billion.
