History

Division of Korea
In 1945 after World War II, Japanese occupation of Korea ends with Soviet troops occupying the North, and US troops the South.

Provisional People’s Committee for North Korea
In February 1946, the Provisional Govt(Provisional People’s Committee for North Korea) was formed under Kim II-sung

Proclamation of Independence
The Democratic People's Republic of  Korea(DPRK)was proclaimed on Sep 09, 1948, effectively dissolving the Provisional Govt. (Soviet forces departed from North Korea in 1948).

Kim II-sung(April 15,1912 -July 08,1994) became the Prime Minister of North Korea in Sep 1948 and hold the office till Dec 1972 when he becomes the President of North Korea which he hold till July 1994(21 years as President)

Kim Jong-il was the Supreme Leader of North Korea (DPRK) from 1994 to 2011 succeeding his father and founder of the DPRK Kim II -sung 's death in 1994.

Kim Jong-un was officially declared the supreme leader following the State Funeral  for his father Kim Jong-iI on Dec 28,2011
