History
By 1920 France secured full control of Chad and incorporated it as part of French Euatorial Africa.
After World War II,France granted Chad the status of Overseas Territory its Chadians the right to elect Representatives to French National Assembly and a Chadian Assembly.
Chad was granted independence by France on Aug 11,1960 with the Chadian Progressive Party(PPT)leader Francois Tombalbaye as its 1st President who served as President for the period Aug 11,1960 to April 13,1975 until he was killed in a coup d'etat
