Sun on Sunday launched in U K - Feb 26,2012




Rupert Murdoch's Sun on Sunday is launched on Sunday Feb 26,2012 with a manifesto that attempts to set out a fresh agenda for the tabloid replacing the News of the World , which was closed by the media mogul in July 2011.
 



Murdoch spent Saturday afternoon at the Sun's London headquarters as the newspaper before he headed off to see more than 3 million copies come off his printing presses just north of London
Murdoch wants the title, edited by Dominic Mohan, to adopt a less strident, more female-friendly tone, as he hopes to regain market leadership on Sunday with a sale of at least 2 million – and preferably at or around 3 million.



Sun on Sunday Sparks Tabloid Price War

 

A tabloid price war will break out this weekend as the Sunday Mirror,People and the Daily Star Sunday slash their prices by at least 50% to take on Rupert Murdoch's launch of a cut-price Sunday Edition of The Sun on Sunday Rupert Murdoch announced that his new Sunday red-top would be aggressively priced at 50p  – half the cost of rival tabloids – and also announced a 17% cut for the Saturday Sun to 50p.

 

Trinity Mirror Reverses Price Cuts

Trinity Mirror has backed down in its tabloid price war with Rupert Murdoch's Sun on sundayafter just one week,returning the Sunday Mirror and the People to £1 across most of the UK

Sun on Sunday has reported its first official audited sales figure of just over than 3.2m for Feb 2012
