Bangladesh Premier League

2012 Bangladesh Premier League(BPL)

 

will be the 1st season of the BPL The season will commencing on Feb 9,2012 with the final to be played on  Feb 29,2012.

The competition will start with a Double Round Robin Group Stage, in which each of the 6 teams will play against every other team twice. These matches will followed by two semi-finals and a final.

  

Franchise and Venues

Matches will be held in Dhaka and Chittagong with a total of 6 franchises representing -

Dhaka,Barisal,Chittagong,Rajshahi,Sylhet and Khulna Divisions divisions.

A total of 33 matches will be held including the final in this tournament. 25 matches will be played in Dhaka and the remaining 8 matches will be held in Chittagong.

 Auction

 

 

 

 

The franchise auction for the BPL was held on Jan 10,2012 and the player auction was held on Jan 19, 2012. Each franchise will have to spend between US$2 million and US$5 million at the player auction.

Opening Ceremony 

The President of Bangladesh Zillur Rahman   announced the launch of the first edition of the BPL during the opening ceremony at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium on Feb 9, 2012

 

 

 

For BPL opening ceremony, popular bollywood stars Bipasha Basu and Malaika Arora Khan performed. Popular singers Shaan,Shreya Ghosal and Bappi Lahiri also arrived Dhaka in that time for BPL.
