84th Academy Awards(Oscars) Sunday Feb 26,2012

The ceremony took place at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood,California,USA. The Kodak Theatre, which was custom-built for the awards show and first played host to the ceremony in 2002, will be described to millions of viewers on Sunday simply as the “Hollywood & Highland Centre.”

The 3,300-seat venue was touted as the Oscars’ first permanent home, but the 131-year-old company has forfeited its sponsorship of the venue as it struggles with bankruptcy

The  Awards ceremony was hosted by Billy Crystal and produced by Brian Grazer. The ceremony marked Crystal's ninth time serving as host for the Academy Awards.


It was televised live in the USA on ABC.




Nominations for these awards were announced by AMPAS on January 24, 2012 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre by Tom Sherak , AMPAS president, and Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Lawerence.

The Artist is a 2011 FrenchRomantic Comedy Drama Film(produced in Black and White)Directed byMichel Hazanavicius, starring Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo. The story takes place in Hollywood between 1927 and 1932 and focuses on the relationship of an older silent film star and a rising young actress, as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the talkies.

Thatcher's husband, Denis Thatcher , is portrayed by Jim Broadbent and Thatcher's longest-serving Cabinet Member and eventual Deputy,Geoffrey Howe,  is portrayed byAnthhony Head.
