2012 Australian Open - Jan 16-29,2012





 It was the 100th edition of the Australian Open, and the first Grand Slam Event of the year. The 2012 Australian Open was the richest Grand Slam tournament in history, with the singles champions pocketing 2.3 million Australian Dollars.Doubles prize money is distributed per pair.

The men’s singles championship will be contested for the 100th time at Australian Open 2012.
 Since 1905 the men’s title has been won by 59 different players.
A commemorative coin has been struck to mark the milestone and the 100th champion will also be awarded a unique medal.

 Novak Djokovic  successfully defended his title after he defeated  Rafael Nadal in the longest final in history -  5 hours and 53 minutes
