Twitter


Twitter is an online Social Networking Service and Microblogging Service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters, known as "tweets".


Twitter was created in March 2006 by -

  • Evan Williams
  • Biz Stone and
  • Noah Glass
and by July 2006, the site was launched

The oldest Twitter accounts are 14 accounts which became active on March 21, 2006, all belonging to Twitter employees at the time

Twitter Inc. is based in San Francisco, with additional servers and offices in New York City.

Users may subscribe to other users' tweets – this is known as following and subscribers are known as followers

Twitter priced 70 million shares at $26 to raise at least $1.8 billion.

Twitter's  public stock debut is set for Nov 06,2013 Thursday morning on the New York Stock Exchange and will begin trading  under the ticker symbol “TWTR'
