Anna Hazare's Fast at MMRDA Grounds,Bandra, Mumbai

Anna Hazare headed for the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai in an open truck, accompanied by his team members, to begin his three-day fast after paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday Dec 27,2011.
The convoy of Anna, on way to Mahatma Gandhi's statue on Juhu beach, was briefly stopped by around 20 men carrying black flags and national tricolour and shouting "Anna Hazare murdabad", close to the guest house where the activist stayed on Monday night.

                                        
After paying tributes to the Father of the Nation, he sat on a mattress to meditate in front of the statue. He later proceeded to the MMRDA ground at Bandra-Kurla Complex.

 

 












The rally will pass through Santacruz, Tulip Star hotel, Mithibai college, S V Road, Vile Parle, Khar and Bandra Highway.
Police have fortified the fast venue by deploying 2000 police constables and 200 sub-inspectors of police, six platoons of state reserve police force, three teams of Quick Response Team and two Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads.
The ground has six emergency exits, 16 fire extinguishers, six metal detector units and round-the-clock ambulance services.


Team Anna's Protest in National Capital

In Delhi, Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan, who will lead a separate eight-hour fasts in Ramlila ground on Tuesday Dec 27,2011, said:
"In the open letter to the Prime Minister and MPs, we have asked for four changes, which are non-negotiable."
The demands are:-
The CBI should come under the lokpal;
The lokpal at the Centre and the lokayuktas in the states should have the power to initiate investigations into cases of corruption even when there are no complaints;
The lokpal should be selected by consensus and not by majority decision within the selection panel; and The lokpal should have powers to probe Group C employees.

 The protest relay fast was scheduled to start at 10 am but it started only 90 minutes later as the crowd was not as huge,the leader of the protest Shanti Bhushan himself came to the podium at 10:30 am though another Team Anna member and his son Prashant Bhushan was at the venue before explaining to media persons about the protest and the delayed start.

Anna Hazare Fasts in Mumbai - Dec 27-29,2011

Anna Hazare began his fast in Mumbai on Tuesday Dec 27,2011 calling the Parliament to pass a tougher version of the anti-corruption Lokpal Bill than the one MPs are debating from today Dec 27,2011.
Anna Hazare reached the venue after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Juhu Beach while on his way in a rally, which took two-and-half hours to reach the ground, passing through Santacruz, Tulip Star Hotel, Mithibai College, SV Road, Vile Parle, Khar and Bandra Highway.Anna, who is suffering from a viral infection, arrived at the MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex of suburban Mumbai along with his close aides Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Manish Sisodia to a thunderous applause and slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and 'Vande Matram'
Anna began his fast shouting slogans of 'Vande Matram' and 'inqilab zindabad'.
