  UK's 5 Most Watched TV Channels are -BBC One;BBC Two;ITV;Channel 4 and Channel 5







BBC One is the flagship TV Channel of the BBC in the UK  launched on November 2, 1936 as the BBC Television Service. It was later renamed BBC tv until the launch of sister channel BBC2 in 1964, whereupon it was known as BBC1, with the current spelling adopted in 1997.



BBC Two is the 2nd TV Channel operated by the BBC in the UK and the 3rd British TV Station to be launched (starting on 20 April 1964 based in London), and Europe's 1st TV Channel to broadcast regularly in colour, from July 1,1967.
British TVat the time of BBC2's launch consisted of 2 channels - the BBC TV Service and the ITV Network made up of smaller regional companies
BBC Two channel developed a reputation for screening highly praised and prestigious drama series.Another founding part of BBC Two was to provide Educational and Community Programming.BBC2 broadcast a large amount of programming for the ''Open University''.As a result of the channel's commitment to community broadcasting, the channel produced the symbolic ''Open Space'' Series.






ITV is the major Commercial Public Service TV Network in the UK which was launched in 1955 Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990  its legal name has been Channel 3, the number 3 having no real meaning other than to distinguish it from BBC One,BBC Two and Channel 4. ITV's primetime schedules are dominated by its 'soap Operas' such as - ''Coronation Street'' and Emmerdale.Also ITV iclude in its programmes schedule large amount of "reality TV" programmes such as 'Celebrity Fit Club',Celebrity Wrestling  and Love Island



Channel 4 is a British Public Service TV Broadcaster which began working on November 2,1982 now owned and operated by the  Channel Four Television Corporation.Channel 4 is a "publisher-broadcaster", meaning that it commissions or "buys" all of its programming from companies independent of itself, and was the first broadcaster in the United Kingdom to do so.Channel 4 also pioneered the concept of stranded programming, where seasons of programmes following a common theme would be aired and promoted together.4 Mations (sometimes called Four Mations) was regular animation strand broadcast in the UK on  Channel 4.The series often featured a documentary on different artists, animators and a series of animated films.

Channel 5 is a TV Network that Broadcasts in the United Kingdom which wasLaunched in 1997and was the 5th and final National Terrestrial Analogue Network to launch. The station was branded as Five between 2002 and 2010. After his purchase of the station from RTL on July 23, 2010, richard Desmond  announced plans to invest more money in programming and return to the name Channel 5.  The channel is a general entertainment channel, with internally commissioned shows.
