Strange Buildings

 

Folly architecture, from the French word for 'foolish,' is eccentric and extravagant architecture with an appearance that far overshadows its purpose.Some of the world's best works of folly architecture -

Big Banana

 The Big Banana built in 1964 is a tourist attraction in the city of Coffs Harbour,New South Wales,Australia, featuring a large walk-through banana. Banana-related products are shown or sold, and the grounds of the building are a banana plantation,a souvenir shop and restaurant.

 

 

 

Dunmore Pineapple

The Dunmore Pineapple  is situated in Dunmore Park,Scotland was built in 1761 as the ancestral home of the Earls of Dunmore

 

The Wonderful Barn

The 'Wonderful Barn' is a corkscrew shaped barn bult in 1743 on the edge of Casletown House Estate of the Conolly family,which borders Leixlip and Celbridge,Ireland


Wainhouse Tower

Wainhouse Tower is a folly(a building constructed primarily for decoration) in the parish of King Cross, on the south west side of Halifax,Calderdale,West Yorkshire in England. At 275 feet (84 m), it is the tallest structure in Calderdale and the tallest folly in the world, and was erected in four years between 1871-1875.

 

. Device To Root Out Evil

This topsy-turvy church was built in 1997  in Vancouver,Canadaby Dennis Oppenheim. At 25 feet and with a charming New England style, it was almost a perfect place of worship, except for that one upside-down thing
