Mir Baqi Tashqandi also known as Mir Banki  during the reign of the first Mughal emperor,Babur He was the governor of the then province of Awadh  In 1528, he had the Babri Mosque constructed in Ayodhya  which later became the focal point of the Babri Masjid  - Ram Janmabhoomi dispute.


Ayodhya Dispute
The main issue revolves around access to a site regarded as Lord Rama's birthplace.Location of Masjid was at the site.Debate centres around whether a temple was demolished to build the mosque named Babri Masjid

Land Title Case

The case was heard by Allahabad High Court and the verdict pronounced on Sep 30,2010.Bench of 3 Judges ruled 2.77 Acresof Ayodhya Land be divided into 3 parts -
1/3 to Ram Lalla represented by the Hindu Mahasabha for constuction of a Ram Temple
1/3 to the Islamic Sunni Wqf Board and
remaining 1/3 to a Hindu Religious Denomination Nirmohi Akhara
The bench was not unamious that the disputed structure was built after demolition of a temple.But agreed that a temple structure predated the mosque-Babri Masjid at the same site.(Archaeological Survey of India

1859 - British fence site,separate worship areas for Hindus and Muslims

1885 - Mahant Raghubar Ram moves court for permission to erect temple.Judge dismisses case.
1949 - Idols sneaked inside mosque.Both sides file civil suits.Govt.locks gates saying matter sub judice.
Jan 1950 - Gopal Singh Visharad files suit seeking right to pray
Dec 1959 - Nirmohi Akhara files suit
1961 - Case filed against forceful occupation of Babri Masjid
1984 - Hindus claim site was Lord Rama's birthplace
1986 - District Judge Orders gates of Mosque be Opened,Hindus to worship inside disputed structure.Babri Mosque Action Committee formed.
1989 - Rajiv Govt.allows Shilanyas
July 1989 - Suit filed in name of Ram Lalla Virajman
1990 - L K Advani begins the Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya..Advani's Rath is stopped and he is arrested in Samastipur,Bihar.BJP withdraws support to V P Singh Govt.

1991 - BJP is primary Opposition Party in Parliament ,comes to power in U.PKalyan Singh acquires land.
Dec 06,1992 - Babri Mosque demolished.riots sweep country.P.V.Narasimha Rao Sets up "Liberhan Panel"
Feb 2002 - 58 killed at Godhra in attack on train.riots in Gujarat.
2003 - Court Orders survey to find whether Lord Rama's Temple existed on site.Survey presents evidence of temple.Court rules some top BJP leaders and others must stand trial for inciting Babri demolition.
2004 - U.P Court rules an earlier order which exonerated Advani for role in demolition be reviewed.
2007 - SC refuses to admit review petition on Ayodhya dispute
