Diana, Princess of Wales


Diana, Princess of Wales(1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997) was the first wife of Charles,Prince of Wales, whom she married on July 29, 1981.Twenty-year-old Diana became The Princess of Wales when she married Charles on 29 July 1981 at St.Paul's Cathedral, which offered more seating than Westminister Abbey, generally used for royal nuptials. It was widely billed as a "fairytale wedding", watched by a global television audience of 750 million while 600,000 people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Diana en route to the ceremony.

                                               Charles and Diana's wedding commemorated 


 The couple have two sons: Princes William(DOB June 21, 1982) and Harry(DOB September15,1984)
.However,the couple divorced on August 28, 1996

Events that lead to Divorce 

In 1985,Diana began an affair with Major James Hewitt(her former riding instructor)
Prince Charles returned to his former girlfriend, Camilla Shand,wife of Andrew Parker-Bowles

Death of Diana

 

On August 31, 1997, Diana died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident in the Pont de l'Alma    road tunnel in Paris,France.

 

 





Her companion, Dodi Fayed(s/o Md-al-fayed,owner of the Hotel Ritz Paris) and the driver of the Benz car Henri Paul  were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

At around 12:20 am on August 31,1997, Diana and Fayed left the Ritz to return to the apartment in rue Arsène Houssaye. They were the rear passengers in a black Mercedes-Benz and a member of the Fayed family's personal protection team, was in the front passenger seat, driven by Paul.

At around 12:23 am at the entrance to the tunnel, their driver lost control; the car swerved to the left of the two-lane carriageway before colliding head-on with the 13th pillar supporting the roof at an estimated speed of 105 km/h (65 mph).It then spun and hit the stone wall of the tunnel backwards, finally coming to a stop
